Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Kirov, I don't think anybody is saying that standing makes you a better fan?

just that there are those who prefer standing and those that prefer to sit - despite the all-seater grounds being around for years now, that's evident at the vast majority of grounds up and down the country, and was plain for anyone with a bit of sense that at the Boleyn, we still had a sizeable percentage of fans who preferred standing.

All this could have been EASILY accommodated at the OS, if there had been the tiniest understanding of that situation and a will to let it continue, and thus not piss off a sizeable amount of the support.

Said right at the very start of that OS thread, that there wouldn't be, as they (well Brady), has her own personal vision of what all grounds should be like, and that does not include standing. This goes right back to her time at Birmingham City and interviews where she stated that she aimed to change the fabric of the clubs fanbase. Their views on all this type of thing, were seen pretty quickly here as well, when a section of the East Stand was closed off.

This is "their baby"....their vision.

and it has led to this wholly predictable shambles.

Haha!

So now they are saying they DO have a family section?! I assume they just forgot to put families in it?!

They are just making shit up as they go, as per usual.

Analysis - BBC sports editor and head CUNT Dan Roan:

"A blame game is now developing over the violent scenes at West Ham's new home.

"The club says the stadium's owners and matchday operator need to bolster policing, stewarding & segregation.

"However, it has also been suggested that West Ham could have done more to plan segregated family and singing sections, rather than prioritising the sale of season tickets, with the mix of traditional supporters and thousands of new fans thought to have led to tension."

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Does seem the club have been somewhat disingenuous with the arrangements and the stewarding sounds like a recipe for disaster.
However, I still don't understand why standing makes you a proper fan and sitting doesn't. Trev upper, we stood to sing bubbles, stood to see exciting bits and stood to applaud goals. Not sure why people need to stand through the whole thing - particularly with some of the dross we have been served up over the years.
That aside, the regulations say seated. The club screwed up for decades allowing standing in BML and chav corner. They're now reaping what they sowed by not taking the necessary action at the Boleyn. As for the family area? What the heck happened to respect? Yes, swearing etc is part of the experience but why do some guys have to act like a randy frigging chimp with an alcohol problem in front of kids?
Every side of this is screwed up but most of all it's the sense of entitlement that says 'I've always done this, so, despite the fact it'll get the club fined and probably mean games behind closed doors to make an example of us, I'll carry on regardless!'

I wouldn't give a monkies if I was there with family, if something needed saying I'd say it regardlessnstead of cowering away like you would LOLmas. What they gonna do, bash your family up?

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Fucking liars

That has irked me somewhat

I was in family stand at Upton Park and when we had our appointment at reservation centre i was told there was no family stand.

The reason i can recall this is when the bloke said we've got like for like seats for you he was only able to give me one point where the seats were like for like.

I used to be front row,on the aisle in family stand.

Out of those three like for like or comparable seats,i got seats on the aisle.

No front row oh no just row 57 and no family stand.

On the seating plan there were front row seats available but at the time of the appt they were classed as restricted view.

I was told that once the club had entered the stadium and seats were checked out i would be given an opportunity to purchase the front row seats if they weren't rv.

This was written on my account

Despite numerous emails to reservation office.I heard nothing back.

Gave it up as a lost cause.

However at Bournemouth game and Watford one same people were sitting in seats i had been promised if they were available.

I asked them if they were season ticket holders and they confirmed they were.

So broken promises all round

Lying cunts.

As it goes i quite like the ground even though i think i've been done up a kipper on me seats.

A few days back someone on kumb posted a quote from the PL rules, stating that every club was required to have a designated family area. And highlighting that we, by not having one, were in breach.

Fast forward to today and it turns out we had one all along.

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
That so-called 'Family Section' in the BM: never heard anyone mention that before. Sounds bollox to me. Is there some kind of PL ruling that there has to be a designated Family Section?

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Just to clarify, if I was with my wife and kids and someone really DID upset me, yeah I would get in their face. Would they be a man if they let it slide then grass? That's not my style, and I'd class myself as a wimp. But its my family. I would sort it out there and then, not do it afterwards.

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
And neither do I. I've missed one game (astra at home) and have not witnessed anything that you mention. I'm up in the gods in the bobby moore , so I'm not at the coal face as it were.

Changing tack slightly. There are hundreds of grass clips online of supposed trouble but nothing has emerged of the spitting incident or indeed CCTV at our category 4 stadium to back up this story.

No surprise that you'd be melting on your seat if someone gave you aggro in front of your wife and kids.

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Again, that's fair enough Hasans, but you have to appreciate that everybody's line isn't likely to be the same as yours.

And, whether you want to or not, you have to accept that what you are happy to let slide, others won't be.

That's why there are fights, complaints, ejections, bans etc.

Personally, I don't have a problem with anyone complaining about someone else's behaviour, although where possible it should be done directly first.

But, say you've got a bloke there taking his wife and kids to their first game, do you really expect him to get in the face of a dozen pissed up shouty, sweary stereotypical football "thugs"?

I don't.

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
EAH

I haven't seen the line myself personally, in all honesty, I have to be completely on the level there.

I just think that WHU should have been honest about the stadium from day one, they weren't. They knew it would be shit. We didn't see a photo of the ground for years until theyd sold 52k season tickets promising comparable views and sightlines etc.

I was never anti board and certainly never anti 'my' club, but these fuckers have really tested my patience in lying, not admitting mistakes and engendering a culture of grasses with the obvious intention of cleansing their support. If criticism of that is 'anti' west ham, then so be it.

Someone on here very eloquently compared the 'most successful migration ever' to an Apprentice task. Lord Sugar would have sacked Brady on the spot.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

Re: "Persistent standing in the East Stand"
Ok, here's one for certain people to chomp on. Taken from the Guardian.

'A West Ham spokesman said the London Stadium did have a family section, with two blocks reserved in the Bobby Moore stand, and thus complied with Premier League guidelines. “The club is doing everything possible within its jurisdiction to help provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all supporters,” the club said. “The club is working hard to move like-minded supporters into areas to enhance their match-day experience.'

Anyone here offered seats in this 'family section'?
